Overall, the coloring of the original work was well done. With only minimal hints as to the actual coloring of the characters, Epona matched each character to near perfection. When it comes to the ground, she did an excellent job with the vague marks the original artist (me) had.
I would love to see Epona take the next step and begin learning how to add depth with shading. I know how hard this can be, but it is a valuable skill to have. For example, the color for the inside of the Minish outfits blends in with the background, making it hard to see where one ends and the other begins. This can be rectified by showing a the shadow created by the character. In the case of the Phantom, adding highlight to show that it's armor is metal will make it stand out against the possible stone wall in the background. In contrast, the wall could be given shading to make it look like it could be stone in the distance. One more note, the only way to tell which direction the light is coming from is the highlight in the character's eye. Adding shading, even slight, will help to show the direction of the light.
In total, knowing Epona and her art as well as I do, I believe this is some of her best coloring. She has been learning shading well in her drawings of buildings and abstract art, and I believe it is time to start applying those techniques to all of her art.
Great work Epona, I am enjoying watching you grow as an artist!
